Al Hoceima National Park
Created in October 2004 on an area of 48,460 ha including 19,000 ha in marine area, Al Hoceima National Park is the most important protected area of the Mediterranean coast of Morocco . Located to the east of the Strait of Gibraltar , it is divided into two areas:
→ A park area of 285 km2 and a central marine area of 23 km which represents 308 km2 approximately,
→ and a peripheral area of 461 km2.
The whole represents approximately 769 km2.
The animal wealth of the Al Hoceima National Park is reflected in the existence of an important colony of Osprey, a bird species threatened with extinction across the Mediterranean and by the presence of three species of dolphins: the common dolphin, the blue and white dolphin and the bottlenose dolphin. The caves existing in this park are occasionally the shelter of the monk seal disappeared from the area and threatened with extinction on an international scale.
